Whilst still very young  Firebird is already a Melbourne institution. Our city is a melting pot of cultures, traditions and flavours. Firebird represents all of these in a repurposed industrial warehouse.

Like the name suggests, Firebird is an exploration of the rawest form of cooking. We harness the power and fragility of open flame to deliver big yet distinct flavours.

Our menu is a respectful example of Vietnamese cooking, not bound by tradition, with subtle references back to the French influence on the cuisine.

Our Duck Le Oranage is already a Melbourne cult classic - a French dish that we’ve tweaked and intensified over smoke.

Our space is a culmination of thoughtful design, ambience and flavour. When we dine, we keep our circle close - in an eclectically converted, candle-lit warehouse.  

Food tastes better when the music is right, the lights are low, and the wine is delicious.

Having experienced first-hand the sights and smells of open-flame cooking techniques across Asia and Europe, the team have sought to bring this all together under one roof in Prahran.

Our menu is an ever-evolving labour of love. We’ve spent months - years - lifetimes - exploring the culinary heritage of Vietnam and Europe whilst maintaining a respect for Australian produce.

We returned, to gather together these experiences and recipes - transforming them into a place to share old stories and create new memories.

This is Firebird.
